About The Event
The Department of Computer Science, St. Charles College of Arts and Science, Eraiyur, organized a Climate Change Awareness Outreach Programme on 20th August 2025 at Pugaipatti Village, located 4 km from the college. The initiative aimed to sensitize the community about environmental protection and the consequences of climate change.
Around 40 students actively participated in a rally, carrying placards with impactful messages on climate change. The rally attracted the attention of the villagers, spreading the urgent call for environmental conservation.
A skit was performed by the students, set in the year 2130, depicting the devastating effects of deforestation—where people survive with oxygen cylinders and water costs ₹5,000 per litre. This powerful act highlighted the catastrophic results of ignoring the environment.
In addition, a student speech on climate change reinforced the programme’s message. Members of the local self-help groups also appreciated and encouraged the efforts, commending the college for raising awareness in such a creative way.
The programme successfully created awareness among villagers and emphasized the responsibility of every individual to protect the environment
