Marathon for “STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN” – 24.08.2024
On August 24, 2024, St. Charles College of Arts and Science organized a marathon with the theme “Stop Violence Against Women,” aimed at raising awareness about women’s safety. The event saw the active participation of around 280 students.
The boys’ marathon, covering a distance of 7 km from Elavanasurkottai Shivan Kovil to the college campus, was flagged off by Mr. L. Ananda Krishnan, Tahsildar of Ulundurpet, and Mr. Kannan, Sub-Inspector of Police, Elavanasurkottai, in the presence of Rev. Sr. Amali Anbarasi, The Secretary, Dr. S. William Suresh Kumar, The Principal, Rev. Sr. Cynthia Robinson and Rev.Sr.Mini Mascrene,The Vice-Principal.
The girls’ marathon started from Pugaipatti Village and covered a distance of 3.5 km to the college campus. It was flagged off by Mr. Arockiya Dass, former President of Eraiyur Panchayat, and Dr. Rajesh, Medical Officer, Kallakurichi District.
The marathon was well-supported by the medical team from Elavanasurkottai Government Hospital, who provided first aid facilities throughout the event, with an ambulance and medical equipment on standby.
Congratulations to E. Nishanth, a first-year Mathematics student, who secured first place in the boys’ marathon, and A.Christinal, a second-year B.A. English student, who emerged as the winner in the girls’ marathon.
A heartfelt thanks to all the professors, office staff, and drivers who contributed to making the marathon a grand success.
