St. Charles College of Arts and Science, Eraiyur, celebrated its 8th Annual Sports Meet on 25 September 2026 with great enthusiasm and sporting spirit. The programme was organized under the blessings and guidance of the Secretary, Principal and Academic Coordinator of the college.
The occasion was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. K. Saravanakumaran, M.A., B.Ed., MSW, DSP, Kallakurichi. His arrival was warmly welcomed by the college community, accompanied by an impressive musical performance by the college band.
The programme commenced with a prayer, followed by a warm welcome address. Students presented a graceful classical dance performance, adding elegance and cultural richness to the occasion.
The National Flag, Olympic Flag and College Flag were hoisted with due respect, symbolizing national pride, unity and sporting excellence. The National Pledge and a patriotic song further inspired a sense of patriotism and togetherness among the students.
The March Past was one of the most impressive highlights of the Sports Meet. Four houses – Fire, Sky, Water and Earth – participated with remarkable discipline, coordination and team spirit, creating a vibrant and memorable spectacle.
The Annual Sports Day Report was presented by Mr. Arun Benzon, Professor and Head, Department of Mathematics, highlighting the achievements and sporting activities of the college.
Various track and field competitions were conducted for both boys and girls, providing students with opportunities to demonstrate their athletic abilities, determination and competitive spirit.
One of the major attractions of the Sports Meet was the spectacular Pyramid Display presented by the four houses. Students showcased exceptional strength, flexibility, balance, coordination and confidence while forming impressive pyramid structures. The performance reflected the importance of teamwork, trust and perseverance.
Winners of various sporting events were honoured with medals, certificates and prizes. The Chief Guest, Secretary, Principal and Academic Coordinator distributed the awards, appreciating the students for their dedication and achievements.
In his inspiring address, the Chief Guest emphasized the vital role of sports in developing discipline, leadership, teamwork, responsibility and self-confidence. He encouraged students to face challenges courageously, respect their opponents and accept both victory and defeat with a positive attitude.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, followed by the National Anthem. All dignitaries, faculty members and students stood in respect and joined in singing the anthem, bringing the 8th Annual Sports Meet to a dignified and memorable close.
The celebration was a wonderful reflection of the college's commitment to holistic education, physical fitness, unity and sporting excellence, leaving lasting memories among all participants.
