Department of Computer Applications

The Department of Computer Applications of St. Charles College of Arts and Science, Eraiyur, was established in 2020 with an initial intake of 09 students and has grown steadily to a current strength of 102 students. Situated in an agricultural-based rural area, the department is committed to providing quality, value-based computer application education to first-generation learners. Over the past four academic years, the department has produced 51 graduates.

To enhance employability and bridge the rural–urban digital divide, the department actively organizes Zero Hour programmes such as Basic Computer Training, MS Office and Internet Applications, and Coding and App Development using PHP and MySQL. For academic enrichment and professional development, the department regularly conducts seminars, workshops, and technical programmes, enabling students to keep pace with emerging technologies and industry requirements. As a result, many alumni are successfully employed in IT and non-IT sectors, particularly in Chennai.

In line with its mission to inculcate ethical values and social responsibility, the department undertakes outreach activities, including a Women Education Awareness Rally at Saveriayarpuram Village, promoting environmental sustainability in rural communities
