The Department of Commerce at St. Charles College of Arts and Science, Eraiyur was established in the year 2019 with the aim of offering quality education in commerce and business studies. Since its inception, the department has been committed to academic excellence, skill development, and holistic student growth.
At present, the department has a total student strength of 150 at the undergraduate level. In response to the growing demand for advanced commerce education, the department is proud to introduce the Postgraduate Programme – M.Com from the academic year 2025-2026, with an initial student strength of 25.
The department is headed by Mr.V.Francis Xavier, M.Com.,M.Phil.B.Ed.,ADEC. 10 years Teaching experience and who provides effective academic leadership and guidance. The department is supported by a team of dedicated and qualified faculty members:
Mrs. A. Subhapradha,M.Com.,M.Phil.,(Ph.D). 10 years teaching experience
Dr. A. Alphonsa Nirmala Mary, MA.,M.Phil.,Ph.D. 35 years teaching experience
Mrs. H. Anisha Begum, MBA . 5 years teaching experience
The faculty members adopt student-centric teaching methodologies, integrating classroom instruction with seminars, workshops, guest lectures, and practical learning experiences to enhance employability and professional competence.
The Department of Commerce also emphasizes social responsibility and community engagement. As part of its outreach activities, the students organized a rally and awareness programme on Health and Hygiene at Adhaiyur Village, Kallakurichi District, on 25 August 2025. Through this initiative, students delivered awareness speeches and actively interacted with the local community, reflecting the department’s commitment to social service and nation-building.
With continuous academic development, value-based education, and community-oriented initiatives, the Department of Commerce strives to shape future professionals who contribute positively to the economy and society.
